A: Generally speaking, new gas cylinders are factory pressure tested prior to despatch. Gas cylinders in use and old gas cylinders require hydrostatically tested every two, three or five years. And it depends on the type of gas cylinder and the regulations in your country.

A: The gas cylinder hydro test usually includes three test methods: Gas cylinder pressure resistance and burst test, Direct expansion method gas cylinder volumetric deformation test, and Water jacket method gas cylinder volumetric deformation test.

A: The purpose of the gas cylinder pressure test and burst test is to verify whether the gas cylinder material strength meets the design requirements. And the test is applicable to all types of cylinders.

A: The purpose of the gas cylinder hydrostatic deformation test is to detect and assess the deformation of gas cylinders, so as to determine whether the gas cylinder can continue to serve. Generally speaking, low-pressure gas cylinders and welded gas cylinders do not require the hydrostatic deformation test. However, the hydrostatic deformation test is mandatory for high-pressure gas cylinders and seamless gas cylinders, such as compressed gas cylinders, oxygen cylinders, and breathing cylinders.
